Pony Club



The Swinhoe Farm Riding Centre Pony Club held an "Own a Pony Day" on Monday 18th February, 08 which was extremely well attended, the children enjoyed doing a "Map Reading Achievement Badge" Stable Management sessions, Pony Club Quiz's as well as Riding the horses & ponies, and having great fun. In the afternoon there was a prize giving, where most members had passed the following badges:-Points of the pony, Grooming, Plaiting & Mucking out.

The following members had also passed there Pony Club D Certificate : - Elodie Straker, Zoe Wilkinson, Gabriella Dukes, Raine Ross, Pony Club D+ Certificate was passed by Amie Roberts. The Swinhoe Farm Riding Centre Pony Club Member of the Year Shield was given to Beth Lundy from Cramlington for the most improved member for both her knowledge and her riding skills.

NEW FOR 2008
Swinhoe Farm Riding Centre launched a Mini Pony Club, This pony club is aimed at children aged at 4 to 7 years of age. They meet fortnightly on a Wednesday night 4.30-5.30 pm They work towards gaining mini achievement badges and they learn the basics on how to look after a pony.

Now is an exciting time to be joining The Pony Club. There are rallies, gymkhanas and summer camps to take part in, opportunities for you to learn new riding skills, how best to look after your pony, make new friends and have a great deal of fun.

  1. The Pony Club is an international voluntary youth organisation for those interested in ponies and riding. It is the largest association of riders in the world.
  2. The Pony Club has over 350 centres in the UK with in excess of 10,000 members.
  3. The Pony Club encourages young people to ride and learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
  4. The Pony Club aims to provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instill in Members the proper care of their animals.
  5. New Pony Membership is open to boys and girls under 21 years of age.
  6. The Pony Club promotes the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self discipline.
  7. Centres run regular activities for their Members including rallies, fun days, camps and competitions.
  8. You'll meet lots of young people who share your love of ponies.
  9. Members of The Pony Club are covered by Third Party Public Liability Insurance.

  • Join from the age of 6 years & upwards.

  • Membership forms are available from Claire.

  • Membership costs £20 per year paid to “The Pony Club”

  • Swinhoe Farm Pony Club Centre offers safety, Learning new skils, Friendship, Training, Events and Competitions.

  • Also rallies & Own a pony (Stable Management & Riding) Mornings & afternoon sessions will run throughout the year.

  • All children are encouraged to take regognized Pony Club Tests including Riding & Road Safety, which are able to be taken at the centre.

  • Training nights towards Achievement badges helps to make the child more practical and knowledgeable around horses & ponies in a safe controlled environment.

  • Need to wear correct pony club attire (Pony club sweatshirt, white shirt & tie, jodhpurs and correct riding equipment).
