BHS Ride Safe Assessment - Thursday 11th April 2019

#NEW BHS Ride Safe Exam to Replace the BHS Riding and Road Safety Test.

We are having a BHS Ride Safe Assessment here at Swinhoe Farm Riding Centre on Thursday 11 April 2019 - Swinhoe Farm Riding Centre, Northumberland. Contact Claire Nixon on 07762773559 for information on training and please let Claire know if you are planning on taking your assessment here so I can ensure I have horse available for you

The Knowledge required will still be the same just assessed in an more accessble candidate friendly approach.

  • The Theory; Questions covering the Highway Code, the Riding and Roadcraft Manual, and the rules of riding on the roads.
  • The Simulated; This part takes place in the arena. It is designed to test the rider’s ability to ride appropriately on the road. This includes observations, signalling, manoeuvring and negotiating a series of hazards that they may encounter on the roads.
  • The Road Route; Once the candidate has demonstrated an understanding of road safety in the theory questions and simulated section they will then walk the road route and then ride the road route with the assessor to demonstrate their competence in dealing with vehicles and other hazards.

The course consist of 8 hours directed learning and will require addition learning to be conducted by the candidate at home.
